Yellowstone is the nation's first national park, the park is huge and spans 2.2 million acres. The park is underneath a hotspot much like Hawaii but on a larger scale. Due to three massive eruptions there are 3 huge calderas left in the landscape due to the explosive eruptions. Due to Yellowstone's temperate ecosystem there are 300 and 500 geysers located throughout the landscape. There are also more thermal features in the park. One of the many popular features are hot springs, due to the location of Yellowstone being on a hotspot. While still having active volcanoes, the ecosystem is fairly safe for visitors and specialists to visit.
